Whether you have two years down the road for your big day or two months, the time is never enough. Wedding planning and preparations can be quite stressful because you wish everything to be absolutely perfect. 

We understand how daunting weddings can get. Hence, we are here to help you with drawing a checklist for your big day. Let's begin,

The Day You Decide To Tie the Knot

Congratulations! You are ready to say “Yes!” Your new beginnings are about to welcome you and you need to start planning. Do these things on the day you decide to get married:

  • Sit with your partner and discuss your wedding dreams. Make sure you both are on the same page;

  • Draw a tentative budget;

  • Prepare a guest list and decide the approximate number of guests;

  • Pick a tentative wedding date and check with important people to avoid clashes; and

  • Research potential wedding venues.

12 Before the Wedding

You may feel you have a lot of time since your big day is one year away. However, that's not true. Here's what you need to do:

  • Visit and book your venue;

  • Research about the best wedding services and suppliers;

  • Review wedding insurance;

  • Select the type of entertainment you want;

  • Book a videographer - choose one who can deliver you cinematic-style wedding videography services;

  • Book an expert photographer; and

  • Start your wedding dress search.

8-10 Months Before the Wedding

  • Book music for the reception;

  • Check and reserve accommodations for guests;

  • Hire a decor company;

  • Choose your wedding cake; and

  • Go through various honeymoon destinations and make reservations.

6-8 Months Before the Wedding

  • Order your wedding dress as designers usually take up to six months to prepare custom dresses;

  • Book ceremony musicians;

  • Plan your honeymoon activities including excursions;

  • Start planning your bridesmaids and/or best man outfits; and

  • Start planning your bachelor or bachelorette parties with your best pals.

4-6 Months Before the Wedding

  • Choose wedding invitations, stationery, and place your order;

  • Go through pre-marriage counseling, if needed;

  • Check with your florist for decoration;

  • Rent men’s formal wear;

  • Shop for groom’s suit;

  • Organize all the legalities along with the registrar or priest;

  • Check wedding transportation for guests;

  • Start gathering addresses of guests and check for RSVP; and

  • Organize a hair and make-up trial.

2-3 Months Before the Wedding

  • Send wedding invitations  to guests;

  • Go for dress fittings;

  • Organize gifts for parents, bridesmaids, groomsmen, and others;

  • Choose and order wedding rings;

  • Buy shoes and other accessories;

  • Look for outfits for flower girls or page boys; and

  • Have a menu tasting session with your caterer.


1 Month Before the Wedding

  • Make last-minute adjustments with your suppliers;

  • Have a final dress fitting;

  • Finish all your wedding DIY projects; and

  • Review your final RSVP list and check with your guests for any last-minute accommodations.

2-3 Weeks Before the Wedding

  • Print place cards;

  • Call wedding suppliers to confirm their arrangements ;

  • Get a manicure, massage, and wax done;

  • Pack an overnight bag for the reception;

  • Pack for honeymoon; and

  • Do your full wedding dress rehearsal.

1 Day Before The Wedding

  • Drop off place cards, table cards, menus to reception manager;

  • Sort out payments;

  • Ensure the cake is on track and delivered to the reception venue. Ask someone to look after the delivery;

  • Rehearse ceremony; and

  • Get a good night’s sleep.
